Ichigo Kurosaki has had the ability to see the souls of the dead since he was very young. One night, his daily life as a high school student is turned upside down by the appearance of a Hollow wanting to devour the souls of Ichigo's family, and a Shinigami. Failing to protect them, the Shinigami, seriously wounded, lends her powers to Ichigo so that he can save his family.
