Momiji, a fox cub, finds herself on the brink of death after she ends up in a car accident. However, she is saved by Shintarou, an aspiring cartoonist who takes her under his care. Their time together is brief yet sweet, ending with the lovestruck cub returning to the wilderness from whence she came. Back home, Momiji meets an otter master and, after a lot of training, gains the ability to freely transform into a human! With this technique, Momiji heads to Tokyo to look for her beloved Shintarou, but their reunion proves to not be as joyous as their initial encounter...
